L. G. Everist has been built through the vision and determination of generations who have recognized opportunities for growth and seized them.

Throughout our journey, we’ve been fortunate to work with an extraordinary group of dedicated employees. While the business of producing, selling, and delivering our products can seem straightforward, it’s a challenging, hard-working endeavor.

“As we look at our momentous anniversary in 2026, we should all take pride in being part of this unbelievable history. The company has evolved and reinvented itself a number of times. We will continue to do so as we evaluate new opportunities and overcome challenges. We certainly could not do this without our dedicated and loyal teammates. Thank You to all previous generations and current employees who will continue to make history by “Delivering Solutions” well into the future”

Fifteen decades and five generations after Lucius Garland Everist tacked a handbill on a sidewalk post in Havana, Illinois, his singular enterprise has produced no less than 14 business lines.

The modern business dictums today would predict gloom for a one- man retail coal business in a quiet Illinois river town.

Twelve years later, the first of hundreds of decisions was made to move his young family 400 miles west to Sioux City, Iowa. In the golden age of the late 19th century, ambition and confidence were the attributes of business ventures, much as they are today. At the core of every strategic decision is the balance of “yes” and “no.”

Decisions are predicated on timing, courage, and vision. This story illustrates the Everist tradition of opportune risk-taking and our approach to quality: in our products and services, and in the people who make them happen.
